Classic Homemade Hummus

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 2–4 tbsp cold water (as needed for texture)
  • Paprika, sumac, balsamic glaze and fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In a food processor, blend the tahini and lemon juice for about a minute until creamy.
  2. Add the garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt. Blend again until well combined.
  3. Add the chickpeas and blend while slowly adding cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Transfer to a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with toasted pine nuts, paprika, sumac, drizzle with balsamic glaze and fresh parsley (optional).
  6. Serve with warm pita, fresh veggies, or as a spread on sandwiches!
